About us
The cookbook was compiled and published by Lynne Dunoon with a desire to document her treasured recipes for her grandchildren. Despite 38 years in the hospitality business, Lynne never had the courage to write this book on her own. After meticulously reviewing old hand written recipes- both her own and those provided by family and friends -she decided to engage help from graphic designer Jo-Anne Ridgway to bring together what was evolving into a community project. Working as a closely-knit, two person team, Jo-Anne carefully crafted the layout, typesetting, and design, featuring over 300 recipes that are not only visually appealing but also easy to follow and understand.
What began as a simple idea soon evolved into something more substantial. Lynne realized food needed to be cooked, photographed, and taste-tested, and the cookbook needed to offer something unique. This led to the inclusion of special features such as wine terminology, cooking for invalids, children’s party menus, and a handy picnic check list. The book was also enhanced with practical advice on socialising around food, providing helpful hints for both guests and hosts alike. For Lynne, every aspect of the project – was a new and exciting challenge.
The success of the project is a testament to Lynne and Jo-Anne’s collaborative spirit, marked by respect and thoughtful communication, and shows that “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work” along with 60 generous home cooks who shared their favourite recipes.
Inside the book, readers will find recipes for everyday meals as well as for special occasions. Many of these recipes come with their own stories and histories, offering readers not only a selection of interesting dishes but also a unique and novel experience through the ‘Special Features’.
Now as a grandmother who has lived a full and rewarding life, Lynne continues to pursue her passion for food and community by donating a portion of the books to charities who wish to sell them for fund raising purposes.
